Young people tell me that watching and sharing media is a way of learning about and participating in the world – with all the joy and pain that this entails. Their media is important to them and many want to talk about it.

A recurrent theme in my conversations with young people, is that adults too often belittle or judge children simply because they are coming of age with smart phones and Internet.

For many young people, Youtube and social media platforms offer contact with a wide range of mentors who can help educate and shape a young person’s understanding of themselves and the world.

Many of the children I am documenting sense the hypocrisy in a culture that bombards them with impossible beauty standards while simultaneously serving up marketing platitudes like “be the best version of you.” This playlist is in progress.
